A BIT ABOUT ME :

I have lived in the Terrace/Kitimat area since 1973.

I have 35+ years experience in sewing. I have formal training and a Diploma in Dressmaking. I have designed garments and crafted projects of all sorts.

Most recently I designed and created some of the Christmas Costumes for the Kitimat Dance Academy’s 2005 performance.

In the mid 1970’s (now I’m aging myself here) I sewed team jackets for the Canadian Ladies Olympic Figure Skating Team. I also sewed winter jackets for the Winnipeg Firefighters and snowmobile outfits as well as one piece snow suits complete with hood.

I have sewn with raw leather – beaver hide hats. I have repaired, re-sewn and lined many biker leather jackets. I have shortened leather pants, jackets and chaps.

I have sewn formal wear, wedding and graduation apparel as well as everyday wear for adults and children. Halloween costumes are an all-time favourite of mine to create. Novelty and “fun” clothing (bustier, Medieval and Victorian styles, capes, robes) are also a treat to sew.

I am experienced in sewing those hard-to-fit body styles where off-the-rack clothing just doesn’t fit.

I have re-upholstered travel trailers and boats and repaired canvas tents. Although I find those projects a bit too heavy for me now I would consider taking on small projects.

MY PASSION: MOTORCYCLE RIDING GEAR FOR LADIES

I worked in healthcare most of my life and when I found myself unemployed after 32 years I decided it was time to do something fun.

In 2002 I realized my childhood dream. As evidence of a misspent youth - I bought my very own motorcycle. I love to ride my 2003 Hundredth Anniversary Harley Davidson Sportster.

I was always uncomfortable wearing the motorcycle riding clothes currently sold on the market today for women so I set out on a quest to find the most comfortable, functional, fashionable, wearable motorcycle riding gear I could afford. This became an obsession.

Of course, I purchased the usual leather apparel for safety reasons but found leather to be hot, heavy, uncomfortable and inflexible – not to mention outrageously expensive. I altered the pants and chaps to fit my vertically challenged body and lost most of the “style”. My back was always cold and my ankles always got wet.

One of my pet peeves was that once you got to where you were going you needed to change your clothes; especially if you were going out to dinner someplace other than a pub. That’s where fashionable and wearable comes into play.

I researched websites on the internet to find motorcycle riding clothes designed especially for women. All the sites I located provided the exact same “off the rack” styles, colours (mostly black), sizes and designs for women as there were for men. The women’s clothing was just a smaller size of men’s clothing. Our bodies are not the same. Women ride differently than men. Every woman rides differently than other women. Every female body is different. Every woman has preferences in how clothing fits.

Riding Gear
I don’t believe a woman should have to wear clothing designed for men. A woman doesn’t have to look like a man to ride a motorcycle. There is nothing more appealing than a woman who is confident and sure of herself as a woman.

I created my own riding gear in a fashion design to suit my figure and riding style. I used the ever popular Goretex because of its characteristics – water resistant, wind resistant, flexible, lightweight and breathable. I lined the garment with mesh fabric for durability and comfort. I then proceeded to prove my point.

I rode in rain and sun, hot and cold. I was splashed with water, mud and road grime by the ever present chip trucks. The torture testing was well worth it. I stayed dry in the rain, cool in the sun and warm in the cooler weather.

SISSY BAR BACKREST BACKPACK

- Padded backrest that fits over the sissybar with a backpack attached (customized to your sissybar)
- Dimensions are 14" X 7" X 18" (when open)
- All one piece and easy to remove (grab and run)
- Light weight
- Waterproof
- Outside zipped pocket for tools, etc.
- Wire-mini-frame encased in the seams for strength
- Collapses and fastened with Velcro (no more bungy cords) so it won't open or flap in the wind while you're riding if    it's empty (you still have use of the backrest)

My promise:

My product will be designed for the individual female figure, preferences and riding style.

Every client’s riding clothes will be unique to that client. The client will be consulted on colour, material, style, design and riding style. My product will be limited only by the imagination.

This philosophy extends to every garment I design and create. All types of apparel as well as upholstery and draperies, formal wear, costumes, alterations and repairs will take the client into consideration.
